Throughout the years, patients have
asked us a number of questions. We have found that many of these questions
have a common theme. The following is a compilation of questions and
answers. Of course, we would be glad to visit with you in person about
any concerns you have.
The state of Texas requires dentists
to take at least 12 hours of continuing education each year, however,
Dr. Dunn far exceeds that requirement, often taking 80 hours or more
of continuing education a year. He is a big believer in continuing
his
education
beyond dental school because the field of dentistry is rapidly changing.

Yes, we will study the features on your
face, take the necessary radiographs, as well as digital photographs,
and then feed this information into the imaging software to get a glimpse
of what your new smile can look like. You will come back at the next
appointment to look at a picture of your new smile, and together we
will evaluate and design the roadmap to your new smile extreme makeover.
Then you can take the picture home, and discuss all your options with
your family members and friends so that you can make an informed, careful
decision.

We will schedule you ahead of time for

If you are incorporated with a traditional
insurance plan, typically one in which you can choose any dentist you
desire, we will be more than happy to assist you by filing your insurance
claim. Our Las Colinas dental office is not involved with any PPO or DMO insurance plans.
If you aren't sure of the type of plan you possess, we will gladly
call for you and explain your benefits to the best of our ability.

When you call our regular office number,
you'll hear the emergency number that you need to dial. Once you call
that number, you will be paging Dr. Dunn who will get back to you right
away.

There is a chance we can get the tooth
back in your child's mouth, so please rush your child and the tooth
to our office right away---within the hour. If possible, place the
tooth in a cup of milk, so that the calcium and vitamin D from the
milk can continue feeding the tooth bone.

Patients can pay by cash, check, and
all major credit cards, including Discover, Visa, MasterCard and American

patients extend payments when necessary.

We have the capability to provide in-office
teeth whitening for very fast results. If you can wait about two weeks for
results, we offer a home teeth whitening system. Both techniques are individually
tailored to each patient and both will give a whiter smile.
One tell-tale sign that it's a good
time for you to whiten your teeth is if you're embarrassed to smile
because of the color of your teeth. Yellowish teeth are the result
of years of coffee or tea drinking, and/or smoking. Greenish teeth
are usually the result of tetracycline exposure as a child. If that's
the case, there is no reason to suffer any embarrassment because of
the shade of your teeth. There is an easy and efficient way to whiten
your teeth---up to nine shades lighter. Try it.

We use state-of-the-art sterilization
procedures. We dispose items whenever possible, and we pride ourselves
on a clean and neat facility. We follow all OSHA and ADA requirements.

At your first appointment, Dr. Dunn
will be happy to explain any of these procedures to you. You can also
visit the website of the American Dental Association at www.ada.org to find out more. Otherwise, come into
our office, and we'd be happy to show you detailed videotapes or computer
programs on these procedures or any others. And of course, you're more
than welcome to talk to us about them. We love talking about the latest
dental procedures to our patients. Just ask!

The use of dental floss is essential
in preventing gum disease. Most oral health problems are related to
dental plaque--the soft, sticky layer of bacteria on the surface of
gums and teeth, particularly along the gum-line. When dental plaque
grows it releases toxins that irritate the gums causing gingivitis.
If left untreated it may lead to more serious form of gum disease (periodontitis).
The toothbrush can't reach difficult areas in the mouth, like between
teeth and along the gums. Using dental floss at least once a day provides
effective removal of dental plaque and cleaning between the teeth.

We understand that some patients are
very nervous about going to the dentist. For those patients, we offer
medications, as needed. We also offer DVD movies and CD headphones
to really help take you away from the dental procedure being performed.

If your teeth are crooked, you don't
necessarily need braces. When you come in for a consultation, we can
talk to you about several other options, including porcelain veneers.
If you're a candidate for this sort of treatment, the whole process
will take about three weeks rather than two years, as is usually the
case with braces.

Bleeding gums is often a sign of infection
in the gums or even in the bones, and you may be a candidate for non-surgical
periodontal treatment. Our goal is have you keep your teeth healthy
for a lifetime. Please don't wait any longer to address this problem.

Great care is taken to design a smile
for each patient. After we understand your needs and goals, we consider
the shape of your face, color of your eyes, shape and contour of lips.
We evaluate factors like the symmetry of your eyes and nose to the
other dimensions. Once you have your new smile, your confidence soars.
Nothing frames the face better than an attractive and beautiful smile.
People are drawn to you without knowing why. A brilliant smile radiates
joy, excitement, healthy and vitality. A smile is a celebration of
life, a reflection of the heart and your number one asset.
